It haunts me
Like the memory
Of a ghost wind
In my hair
I feel it brush over
My closed lashes
And when I open
My eyes
I see all is still
But I feel it
I feel the wind
Kiss my cheek
Surer than the heart beating
In my yet living body
I feel the wind
Billow out my clothes
But I look down to see
Clothes hung from a lifeless frame
The wind fills
My cupped hands
Like water to slake
A hammering thirst
It plagues me
And hurts me
And fills me
With thoughts
Of what could have been
And what was
What will be
And what shall never be
